About BBEdit Import
===================
If you’re a long time BBEdit user who upgraded to BBEdit Lite 2.3 when Rich
Siegel’s cool editor actually split into two different products (the commercial
version and the Lite, freeware version), you probably noticed that the XTND
capability built in BBEdit was removed in the Lite version. This BBEdit
extension is intended to fill in this gap, at least partially.
This extension lets you extract the plain ASCII text from a word processor file,
provided you have the Claris XTND System and the appropriate translator
installed on your Macintosh. The BBEdit 2.2.2 distribution package included
the “Claris XTND System” file and some translators.
Unlike the Import command in BBEdit, this extension doesn’t have a “Wrap After
Importing” checkbox in its import dialog box (mainly because there is no
supported way for a BBEdit extension to find out the current wrap settings), so
you’ll have to wrap the text manually in most cases.
This BBEdit extension was written by Marco Piovanelli (piovanel@dsi.unimi.it)
using THINK Pascal. This product is free. I didn’t include the source code
in order to keep the archive size down, but if you’re interested I can mail it
to you.
